SIL Verification Tools

SILcet is a powerful tool designed for SIL Verification of Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs), complying with IEC 61508, IEC 61511, and ISA TR84.00.02 standards. It is available in two versions:

  • SILcet Cloud – A web-based version with a modern, user-friendly interface where calculations are performed on secure cloud servers (under development).
  • SILcet Pro Plus – An Excel-based version that runs locally on Windows PCs, utilizing Excel macros for calculations.

Key Features & Compatibility

  • Both versions provide identical calculation results.
  • High compatibility between SILcet Cloud and SILcet Pro Plus, allowing seamless data exchange for most SIFs. However, for very complex SIFs, some manual adjustments may be required when importing or exporting between versions.
  • Common Failure Rate Database: SILcet includes a database with failure rates for many devices from different manufacturers. Users also have the flexibility to add their own devices and customize data as needed.
  • Flexible Data Management: Users can export all data from SILcet Cloud to Excel and import it back, making it highly convenient for those who prefer to enter all SIF data in their own Excel workbook first and later transfer it to SILcet Cloud.
  • System Requiriments
  • SILcet Cloud – Requires only an internet connection.
  • SILcet Pro Plus – Requires Windows 7 or later and Excel 2013 or later.

Technical Features

  • Supports both low demand and high demand SIFs, considering all three IEC requirements: systematic capability, probability of failure, and architectural constraints.
  • Architecture Selection: Users can select simple architectures (e.g., 1oo1, 1oo2, 2oo2, 2oo3, 1oo3, … MooN) and configure complex architectures as needed.
  • Advanced Calculation Parameters:
  • Failure rates (SD, SU, DD, DU)
  • Type of element (A or B)
  • Cpt, TI, LT, Beta, MTTR, Startup Time, and more.
  • Calculates key safety metrics, including:
  • SIL (Safety Integrity Level)
  • PFDavg / PFH (Probability of failure)
  • RRF (Risk Reduction Factor)
  • MTTFS (Mean Time to Fail Safe)
  • Additional Features:
  • Compare different SIFs.
  • Evaluate costs of different architectures.
  • Test SIFs when target values are not met.

SILcet Cloud is ideal for those who prefer a modern, web-based experience, while SILcet Pro Plus caters to users who rely on Excel-based workflows. The flexibility to switch between the two ensures maximum efficiency and ease of use, with only minor manual adjustments needed in specific complex cases.
